Make the Season Bright

More Holiday light tips!

Hey, Holly Day here reminding you that it’s that wonderful time of the year again. Yeah, well, you probably don’t need me to remind you. You’ve been reminded on TV of this time of the year starting, oh last June or so. Have you seen all the ads this year, so early for holiday lights? Yikes!

One of the things most advertised this year, and a hot item for certain are light projectors. You may have seen some of these in your neighborhood last year, but surely you’ll see more this year. First of all, don’t call me Shirley, and second of all, just what is a light projector?

Light projectors are staked lights that look light a floodlight. One light to place in your yard, aim at your house, and you’re done. Let me repeat that part, one light to place and you’re done! Speaking as someone who has seen husbands all over my neighborhood climbing up ladders, fighting the cold, untangling lights and doing their best Clark W Griswold imitations, this is great news. I’m liking this one light, and done idea!

There are different types of projectors, and your local Ace Hardware store has several to choose from. You can spend a little or a lot to get one, as you might expect. The more basic ones have a focused light with a rotating disc or ball that gives a fun light show. The higher end models have lasers in them to create their light show, and then they add motion, rotation, different colors and more features. All of them are cool, fun and easy, and they use hardly any electricity. Ask our helpful folks to help you decide which one is right for you.

If you’re having a hard time getting your guy to put up lights on your house, get him to try these. Or better yet, get a projector or two and put them up yourself and surprise him. You can have the lights up in no time, then make him climb up to the dusty rafters in the garage and get the inflatable Santa and reindeer down. Tell him, “No excuses, dear, I put up all the lights!”

Have a fun time with your holiday lights, enjoy the season, and thanks for supporting your local Ace Hardware store! Next time you’re there, tell them Holly Day sent you!
