Happy winter everyone!
Cabin fever setting in yet?
Are you spending a lot of time on Pinterest, then decorating web sites, then choosing paint colors from websites?Next thing you know, you’re heading out the door and buying paint.
If you’re a first time painter, be sure to ask a lot of questions and get the right help from the helpful folks at your local Ace Hardware. Painting isn’t rocket science, but it does take the right prep work and right products to make the project look right.
A few basics: Don’t scrimp. It’s not worth your time and energy to try and save a few bucks when painting. If you’re doing the job yourself, you’re saving the big bucks by not hiring a painter. Use those savings to buy the right tools and right products.
Paint: You truly cannot go wrong at Ace Hardware when buying paint. From our top rated Clark & Kensington to our long-time trusty Royal line, Ace Paints are outstanding. I have used them for years and they stack up very well against any other brands. Want a super-premium paint? We’ve got Valspar Optimus for you, a paint you can’t beat. Some of our stores also have Benjamin Moore paints, which are top quality as well.
Brushes & rollers: Don’t go cheap here. Spend the little extra for a Purdy brand roller or brush and you won’t waste your time spreading premium paint with a lousy brush. You’ll be able to apply the paint that much easier and the end result will truly look better.
Masking Tape: C’mon, they’re all the same, right? Wrong! Big difference between cheap painters tape and quality tapes the like of 3M and Frogtape. Once again, spend just a little more and you won’t be sorry. You also won’t be spending hours peeling little bits of tape off, cursing all the way.
Prep work is the painful part of painting, but it’s also the part that really shows if it’s done right or not. Spend a few hours filling holes, sanding, taking off fixtures, masking and protecting things you don’t want painted. It may sound like extra busy work, but it’s not.
Let the folks at Ace help you with this and tell them Brad Nale sent you!
